Mount Pinatubo Crater Hike

Mt Pinatubo, in 1991, with only minimal warning after 600 years of inactivity, suddenly erupted, hurling ashes and debris as high as 50,000 feet into the atmosphere.

This was the largest volcanic eruption of the 20th century, Mt. Pinatubo is now inactive again, having left spectacular lava formations (lahar).

Transport is in a 4×4 jeep most of the way up, then hike with a guide, it is roughly 5.5km (2 hours walk) each way.

The terrain is relatively flat, with a total ascent of only 300 meters. The last 20 minutes we ascend to the rim of the Crater Lake.

Note: 3am early pick up. Duration: 15 hours.

Note: Strictly imposed requirements by local authorities:

i) All guests, without exception, must produce 2 original government issued identification cards or passport. Scans or photocopies are unacceptable.

ii) As the trek to the crater lake is physically demanding, guests younger than 8 years, 60 years or over and those with physical impairment are not allowed to trek.
